Review methodology

Kakobuy US

Site record

Our testing methodology for kako-us products follows a fixed protocol. For knives: we unpack the product, record packaging condition, weigh and measure the blade, check for straightness and grind symmetry, then perform a standardized cutting test on onions, tomatoes, carrots, and butternut squash. We time each task and note effort. We measure edge retention by cutting 100 linear feet of cardboard and re-testing sharpness with a BESS tester. For whetstones: we soak or perma-soak as directed, sharpen a standardized set of three blades, and measure burr removal with a 40x loupe. We record slurry color and dishing after 10 minutes of use. For cookware: we test heat distribution with a thermal camera, boil time, and handle comfort. We score each product on a five-point scale. Hands-on scores use the full 1 to 5 scale. Reviews are reassessed when a product or the relevant evidence changes; any new test is dated. We do not use a ten-point scale or percentages.

Records and comparison limits

Comparisons identify the blade, cardboard and food-cutting conditions. The BESS result, cutting effort and cookware observations concern the sample tested; incomplete evidence does not receive a numeric score.
